Film Constellation

Film Constellation is a business-to-business film sales agency delivering value across Europe and the Americas, working with an array of acclaimed filmmakers, from David Lynch and Saim Sadiq to Georgia Oakley and Werner Herzog, while maintaining a strong presence at prestigious global film festivals like Cannes, Toronto, and New York.

As the design arm of the marketing team, my role spans graphic design, motion, and media strategy, ensuring the agency’s visual communication aligns with the needs of both sales and marketing. From crafting pitch decks that secure funding for films in pre-production to designing festival materials that captivate industry professionals, I navigate high-pressure environments with precision and creativity. Beyond core design work, I also leverage my marketing experience in the arts, shaping campaigns that resonate across print, digital, and social media.

Pitch Decks

Selling a film is as much about storytelling as the film itself. My role in the process was to extend the world envisioned by the director, crafting pitch decks that didn’t just inform but immersed potential buyers, investors, and festival programmers in the film’s essence. Each deck was meticulously designed to align with both the director’s artistic intent and the marketing team’s strategic goals, ensuring the right tone, mood, and narrative structure to captivate its intended audience.

Some projects required building the visual language entirely from scratch, with only a script as reference, while others, already in production, provided assets such as stills and concept art to shape a more defined direction. Unlike traditional B2B film sales agencies, which often rely on basic, text-heavy presentations, we disrupted industry norms by integrating thoughtful design early in the sales process, ensuring that a film’s visual identity was compelling from its very first pitch.

This commitment to high-level design precision gave our projects a competitive edge, elevating their marketability well before they reached the final stages of production.

Social Media

Keeping the expression of the company colourful and creative; eye-catching and informative, we maintained a consistent stream of visual content with healthy variation under the same design system to extend a confident and professional creative tone. In addition to this objective, rational design approach, when it came to cutting public film clips for quotations we sort to match the directorial vision for the individual films as to further tease the world created with that film.

Sales Posters

A film’s sales poster is its first impression, acting as a crucial tool in capturing the attention of buyers, festival programmers, and distributors. Each poster must strike the perfect balance between the director’s vision and the marketing strategy, ensuring it connects with the intended audience while effectively highlighting the most compelling aspects of the film.

However, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach—posters often need to be adapted for different markets, events, and distribution goals, meaning a single film may require multiple variations depending on its audience and positioning.

Some posters are created entirely from scratch, long before production begins, serving as a visual concept to secure funding and generate early interest. A prime example is Fear Is The Rider, where all we had to work with was the script, requiring a poster that could evoke the film’s essence without any existing imagery. In contrast, some films, like Animale, already had key visuals in place but required compositional enhancements—for instance, recoloring, adding atmospheric elements like smoke and dust, or refining details to better align with the film’s tone and market positioning. In every case, the challenge was to create a striking and purposeful image that not only looked great but also sold the film effectively.

End of Year Showreel

Keeping it sophisticated, exciting, optimistic while leaning slightly comic, every year we want to say thank you to all our clients who made the year possible. I cut a showreel meticulously going through the entire footage that year to highlight in a celebratory and joyous tone which would imbue our clients with positive inspiration for the year ahead as well as internally for the company – like a little gift.

Event Spaces

With a presence at the world’s biggest film festivals, Film Constellation’s pop-up offices and meeting spaces serve as vital hubs for industry networking, deal-making, and showcasing films to potential buyers. These spaces are more than just functional meeting points—they are immersive brand experiences, carefully designed to highlight the films being sold while ensuring every detail supports seamless communication and engagement.

This requires a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to guarantee that all printed materials—from posters and banners to screening schedules and promotional postcards—are of the highest quality and optimized for clarity. Every touchpoint is considered: badges and postcards serve as memorable keepsakes, QR codes provide instant access to relevant pitch decks, and social media posts are ready to roll out in real-time with fresh reviews, quotes, and festival buzz. The result is a cohesive, professional, and visually engaging presence that ensures every interaction leaves a lasting impression.
